Temperature Monitor Widget Editor's Review

'Temperature Monitor Widget' is a free program that displays the temperatures detected by various sensors from your Mac.

When I first opened it, I had the impression that I had in front of me a shrunken version of a great widget, iStat nano. Besides other features, iStat nano has the support for temperature monitoring. I found the differences, when I switched to the configuration panel of the Temperature Monitor Widget.

The sensors supported by this program are the sensor that measures the temperature of the ambient air, the HDD sensor, the CPU temperature diode, the hard drive Bay(s), the graphics-processor temperature diode, the memory-controller temperature sensor, and the optical drive sensor. From all the applications I tested before, this one has the best support for temperature displaying.

The configuration panel allows you to pick up-to-two devices that will have their temperatures displayed by the widget. A 'No sensor selected' option is also available. The program can show the temperature in Celsius, Fahrenheit, or Kelvin degrees.

Pluses: It has a very good temperature display engine. It supports displaying temperatures on different scales.

Drawbacks / flaws: You can see only up-to-two devices at the same time with this widget.

In conclusion: This is one of the best tools that can show how your Mac is doing. This widget is useful when you need to discover if one of your devices malfunctions or if it has cooling issues.
